Below is reply from the Gulds.  They've changed their plane reservations so they can make it to our GM in September. I spoke to Steve Shank, and he said I could confirm. We can work out what they'll talk about, and also can plan a class (for which we'll charge) as we go towards September. Please look over their web site to get an idea of the topics they cover, so we can talk about ideas.  http://geeksontour.com/ If any one wants to look at the materials they have for paid members, we have a Club membership.  let me know individually if you want the log on. Quick update on Monday's presentation... Jeff passed the torch to me and I contacted our presenter Max Bratcher on Wednesday. He will deliver their standard marketing presentation that Sonic expects of him, but understands that we want him to leave as much time as possible for the technical side and the various questions I posed to him. He will be coming to dinner and may bring a second tech support person Luke Mazza, depending on his schedule.

Jeff, I think he will be great and thank you for making the arrangements.

The Gulds (Geeks on Tour) are confirmed for our Sept GM, and are asking what we'd like them to present, as well as discussing the possibility of a class on the day following or day after that. Unless you want Steve Shank and me to make some executive decisions, we should have your input about what they might present and teach. I'D LIKE TO ALSO ASK OUR TABLET SIG EMAIL LIST SUBSCRIBERS WHAT THEY MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN.  This is now a large list (lots of GGCS members, plus prospective members) and many of them have asked for specific tutorial classes.  I think the Library also would send out a notice about any such class we offer. As a reminder, when we did two classes in the past with the Gulds, we charged something like $30 or $40 and split the take with them.  We filled both classes. (Subject was tablets and smart phones). PLEASE take a look at their web site to get an idea of what they are featuring in the way of classes and videos this year.   We have a group log on for their "members only" portions of the site. I don't personally have a pet project in mind and would just love to have
them talk on anything, so whatever the consensus is works for me.  I'd
suggest charging $20 for a class and giving the Gulds the entire amount, or
less 10%.  They've made a special effort to present with us this time
around and they do this for a living.

We can work out what they'll talk about, and also can plan a class (for which we'll charge) as we go towards September. Quick update on Monday's presentation... Jeff passed the torch to me and I contacted our presenter Max Bratcher on Wednesday. He will deliver their standard marketing presentation that Sonic expects of him, but understands that we want him to leave as much time as possible for the technical side and the various questions I posed to him. The Gulds (Geeks on Tour) are confirmed for our Sept GM, and are asking what we'd like them to present, as well as discussing the possibility of a class on the day following or day after that. Unless you want Steve Shank and me to make some executive decisions, we should have your input about what they might present and teach. I'D LIKE TO ALSO ASK OUR TABLET SIG EMAIL LIST SUBSCRIBERS WHAT THEY MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN.  This is now a large list (lots of GGCS members, plus prospective members) and many of them have asked for specific tutorial classes.  I think the Library also would send out a notice about any such class we offer. As a reminder, when we did two classes in the past with the Gulds, we charged something like $30 or $40 and split the take with them.  We filled both classes. (Subject was tablets and smart phones). PLEASE take a look at their web site to get an idea of what they are featuring in the way of classes and videos this year.   We have a group log on for their "members only" portions of the site. I don't personally have a pet project in mind and would just love to have
them talk on anything, so whatever the consensus is works for me.  I'd
suggest charging $20 for a class and giving the Gulds the entire amount, or
less 10%.  They've made a special effort to present with us this time
around and they do this for a living.

We can work out what they'll talk about, and also can plan a class (for which we'll charge) as we go towards September. Below is reply from the Gulds.  They've changed their plane reservations so they can make it to our GM in September. I spoke to Steve Shank, and he said I could confirm.
 
We can work out what they'll talk about, and also can plan a class (for which we'll charge) as we go towards September.
 
Please look over their web site to get an idea of the topics they cover, so we can talk about ideas.  http://geeksontour.com/
 
If any one wants to look at the materials they have for paid members, we have a Club membership.  let me know individually if you want the log on.
 
As for the class, I think we might consider Tablets and Smart Phones even tho we did it before...there have been a lot of requests from the Tablet SIG people and some who tried it, but wanted more of a real basic class, asking for classes.
 
Or Google Pictures, which although not as high skill level as the PhotoShop gang might want, would appeal to a large cross section of people getting loaded with their iPhone shots and worried about the fact that Picasa is no longer quite as well supported by Google.

Quick update on Monday's presentation... Jeff passed the torch to me and I contacted our presenter Max Bratcher on Wednesday. He will deliver their standard marketing presentation that Sonic expects of him, but understands that we want him to leave as much time as possible for the technical side and the various questions I posed to him. He will be coming to dinner and may bring a second tech support person Luke Mazza, depending on his schedule.

Jeff, I think he will be great and thank you for making the arrangements.

The Gulds (Geeks on Tour) are confirmed for our Sept GM, and are asking what we'd like them to present, as well as discussing the possibility of a class on the day following or day after that. Unless you want Steve Shank and me to make some executive decisions, we should have your input about what they might present and teach. I'D LIKE TO ALSO ASK OUR TABLET SIG EMAIL LIST SUBSCRIBERS WHAT THEY MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN.  This is now a large list (lots of GGCS members, plus prospective members) and many of them have asked for specific tutorial classes.  I think the Library also would send out a notice about any such class we offer. As a reminder, when we did two classes in the past with the Gulds, we charged something like $30 or $40 and split the take with them.  We filled both classes. (Subject was tablets and smart phones). PLEASE take a look at their web site to get an idea of what they are featuring in the way of classes and videos this year.   We have a group log on for their "members only" portions of the site. I don't personally have a pet project in mind and would just love to have
them talk on anything, so whatever the consensus is works for me.  I'd
suggest charging $20 for a class and giving the Gulds the entire amount, or
less 10%.  They've made a special effort to present with us this time
around and they do this for a living.

Below is reply from the Gulds.  They've changed their plane reservations so
they can make it to our GM in September. I spoke to Steve Shank, and he said
I could confirm.

 

We can work out what they'll talk about, and also can plan a class (for
which we'll charge) as we go towards September.

 

Please look over their web site to get an idea of the topics they cover, so
we can talk about ideas.  http://geeksontour.com/

 

If any one wants to look at the materials they have for paid members, we
have a Club membership.  let me know individually if you want the log on.

 

As for the class, I think we might consider Tablets and Smart Phones even
tho we did it before...there have been a lot of requests from the Tablet SIG
people and some who tried it, but wanted more of a real basic class, asking
for classes.

 

Or Google Pictures, which although not as high skill level as the PhotoShop
gang might want, would appeal to a large cross section of people getting
loaded with their iPhone shots and worried about the fact that Picasa is no
longer quite as well supported by Google.

Hi all,
Quick update on Monday's presentation... Jeff passed the torch to me and I contacted our presenter Max Bratcher on Wednesday. He will deliver their standard marketing presentation that Sonic expects of him, but understands that we want him to leave as much time as possible for the technical side and the various questions I posed to him. He will be coming to dinner and may bring a second tech support person Luke Mazza, depending on his schedule.

Jeff, I think he will be great and thank you for making the arrangements.

Who will be doing the story for page 3 and providing me with pics for the

The Gulds (Geeks on Tour) are confirmed for our Sept GM, and are asking what we'd like them to present, as well as discussing the possibility of a class on the day following or day after that. Unless you want Steve Shank and me to make some executive decisions, we should have your input about what they might present and teach. I'D LIKE TO ALSO ASK OUR TABLET SIG EMAIL LIST SUBSCRIBERS WHAT THEY MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN.  This is now a large list (lots of GGCS members, plus prospective members) and many of them have asked for specific tutorial classes.  I think the Library also would send out a notice about any such class we offer. As a reminder, when we did two classes in the past with the Gulds, we charged something like $30 or $40 and split the take with them.  We filled both classes. (Subject was tablets and smart phones). PLEASE take a look at their web site to get an idea of what they are featuring in the way of classes and videos this year.   We have a group log on for their "members only" portions of the site. I don't personally have a pet project in mind and would just love to have
them talk on anything, so whatever the consensus is works for me.  I'd
suggest charging $20 for a class and giving the Gulds the entire amount, or
less 10%.  They've made a special effort to present with us this time
around and they do this for a living.

Google Photos sees photos online. Picasa sees photos on local drives. You need to upload/download to use them both.
